More people should be using Safari. It’s the best browser out there. There’s a nice plugin I use for search called SafariStand. There’s lots of others out there like Inquisitor or Glims, but this is what I use.
Stand lets you do a bunch of cool things, what I like most is ‘Quick Search’. This lets you use custom shortcuts in the address bar to perform a search. So all you do is hit ⌘ + L (to get the the address bar) then type in your shortcut (for the site your searching) followed by your search term. It’s literally 4 keys then enter from anywhere in the browser.
You can make a custom shortcut for anything you can search for on the web.
Plus with Safari 4 and Snow Leopard it really is fast. Download the install for Stand here.
There is a different ‘aesthetic,’ you must remember, for each epoch in the history of art. It is misleading, therefore, to place one school above another or to suppose that we ought to imitate the great masters who have gone before us. There are great masters at every epoch. The aesthetic of the pre-Raphaelites was suitable to and a product of its period. It would be out of place to-day. It is out of date. As much as I admire the great masters of former times, I have neither imitated them nor been influenced by them. I might express the opinion, however, that among them Velasquez… was the most complete; Rubens had the greatest imagination, and Rembrandt the greatest soul. The painter must go straight to nature; the study of nature alone will teach him his business. My own art may be summed up in two words; I seek to give the impression of things which touch and surround me. We must know nature first, before we can hope to improve upon her.

I really don’t like Adium. But since people (and I don’t know why) still use other IM services like Windows Live, I occasionally use it. I’ll also login to Facebook chat so it’s not a total waste of time. Anyway, Adium looks ugly. iChat doesn’t. So I put together a list of Adium Xtras and enhancements I’ve found. This list kind of makes Adium look like another iChat account. It’s not identical at all, but hey it’s not iChat.
Here’s what you should do:
Who wants another dock icon anyway? The menu bar is all you need, plus if you use iChat, you don’t want 2 IM applications in your dock. As for the message style I use Renkoo. It doesn’t look like iChat’s balloons, but the ones I’ve found that are trying to imitate iChat, don’t look good.
Other things: I also hide the user icons in the contact list and icons in the chat window toolbar. If you want icons in the toolbar, Capsule Toolbar is okay. You can figure out how to style the contact list yourself. It’s not hard just tweak the default Aqualicious. If you find better ways to make Adium more like iChat, let me know.
I just discovered Autodesk released a version of SketchBook for iPhone OS. You can get it from the App Store now. It’s got a few features that Brushes doesn’t, so it’s worth checking out if you sketch on your phone!
Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing.
